1. What is Smartcar? 
A. Coastr offers Keyless Entry / Car-Sharing so you (vehicle rental operators) can offer your customers a truly digital & fully contactless vehicle rental experience. For this, Coastr integrates with Smartcar to connect to your car instantly and effortlessly in 4 simple steps without any software or hardware installation. Once connected, you can track a vehicle's location, remotely lock or unlock your vehicle, view odometer reading, fuel tank levels, EV battery & charging status, and much more. 2. How does Smartcar work? 
A. Smartcar works directly with OEMs to connect to the vehicles via APIs. You may ask 'What is a Connected Car?'. Connected cars are vehicles that have in-built cellular modems. Most vehicles manufactured after 2015 have been shipping with this connectivity, or “embedded telematics.” This essentially makes cars “smart” allowing them to communicate with the Internet. 

3. Are all vehicles compatible with Smartcar and where is it available? 
A. No. Compatibility varies by make, model, year, and trim. To check if your vehicle is compatible with Smartcar, go here and select your country & make to view the latest compatibility matrix. This page is regularly updated by Smartcar. Check Smartcar's global coverage here

4. How can I know if my vehicle is compatible for sure? 
A. We can check this for you. Please reach out to your Account Manager or email support@coastr.com. 

5. My vehicle is not listed in the Compatibility matrix. When will new brands be added? 
A. Smartcar are continuously working to launch new brands. If there is a specific brand or model you would like to see added, we recommend contacting Smartcar directly and signing up your preferred vehicle for their research fleet here

6. My vehicle is listed and compatible with Smartcar. How do I connect it to Coastr? 
A. See this article or contact your Account Manager or email support@coastr.com. 

7. I'm unable to connect my vehicle to Smartcar. 
A. Please contact your Account Manager or email support@coastr.com. 

8. My vehicle connected successfully to Smartcar. What next? 
A. Great job. Go to the Fleet Dashboard on the Coastr system and see the vehicle on the map. Click the vehicle icon to see the different parameters available. If you'd like to test remote vehicle lock/unlock then please contact your Account Manager or email support@coastr.com. 

9. How reliable is the Smartcar data/connection? 
A. Smartcar works directly with OEMs and as such there will always be dependencies on the data provided by the OEM. You can check their brand reliability here and metrics with additional information here

10. My vehicle is connected but I'm having issues. Why? 
A. There could be several reasons. If you haven't already then please get in touch with your Account Manager or email support@coastr.com. You can also take a look at the Smartcar Brand Quirks page here to see if there are any oddities with your OEM.
