      How do price rules work?

      Read this article to understand the workings and the logic behind the Price Rules so you can set up these for your account with confidence. Refer to this article (https://help.coastr.com/knowledge/price-rules-complete) on how to set up a Price Rule.

      Price Rules Triggers 

      1: Rule Effective Dates only: 

      • Booking should be within Rule start day 12 AM (12AM included)  to Rule end day 11.45 PM (11:45 PM included).
      • For Example if Rule Start Date is set as 17th May and Rule End Date is 31st May. Now if a user tries to create booking in between these dates then a rule will be applied.
      • Here if the user creates a booking with pickup as 16th May 11:45 PM also then the rule will not be applied.
      • If the user creates a booking with Drop-off Date is 1st June 12:00 AM then no rule will be applicable. 

      2: Rule Effective Times only:

      • Booking pick up time should be greater than or equal to rule start time & booking drop off time should be less than or equal to rule end time. Pick up & drop off dates can be any dates.
      • For Example if Rule Start Time set as 9AM and Rule End Time as 7PM. Now if a user tries to create a booking with pickup time greater than or equal to 9AM and drop-off time less than or equal 7PM on any date then a rule will be applied. 
      • If pickup time is before 9AM even if Drop-off time is before 7PM then no rule will be applied.
      • If Drop-off Time is after 7PM even if Pickup time is after 9AM then no rule will be applied. 

      3: Minimum Booking Duration only:  
      • Booking with duration equal to Min Booking Duration or Max Booking Duration  should have a rule applied to it. 
      • For Example: If Min Booking day  is set as 1 and Max is set as 2. Now if booking is created with pickup as 15th May 8AM till any time of 1 day or 2 day duration then rule will be applied. 

      4: Pickup/Dropoff Day only: 
      • Booking with Pick-up day equal pickup day as in rule and Drop-off  date equal to drop-off day as in rule should have rule applied to it. 
      • For example if in rule pickup day is set as Friday and Drop-off day is set as Monday. Now while creating a booking if pickup date is selected as Friday and drop-off date is selected as Monday then rule will be applied.  
      • If any pickup and drop-off date is not selected as per rule then no rule will be applied. 

      5: One card of Rule Effective Date and Rule Effective Time: 
      • Here rule will be applied as part of combination (Rule Effective Date and Rule Effective Time). Booking should be within Rule start day/start time till Rule end day/end time (Range). 
      • For Example if Rule start date is 16th May and Rule end date is 30th May . Rule start time is 9AM and Rule end time is  5PM. Now rules will be applied for any date and time effective from 16th May 9AM till 30th May 5PM.  
      • If Pickup is before 16th May 9AM or Drop-off is after 30th May 5PM then no rule will be applied.
      • If Pickup is 16th May 8:45AM and Drop-off is 30th May 5PM then no rule will be applicable as it is not in range.
      • If Pickup is 16th May 9:00AM and Drop-off is 30th May 5:15PM then no rule will be applicable as it is not in range.
      • Here if the user has selected 17th May 7AM till 18th May 11PM then rule will be applied as it lies in Range.

      6: One card of Rule Effective Time and Pickup/Dropoff Day(s): 
      • Here rule will be applied as part of combination (Rule Effective Time and Pickup/Dropoff Day(s) ) .Rule will be applied when Booking is from Pickup day and start time to Drop-off day  and End Time.
      • For Example Rule pickup day is set as Friday and Drop-off day is set as Monday. Rule start time is 9:00 AM and Rule end time is  5:00 PM. Now if Pickup date /time is Friday any time greater than equal 9AM till 11:45 PM and Drop-off date /time is Monday any time 12:00 AM till 5:00 PM. In this case rule will be applied.
      • If Pickup is selected any day other than Friday then no rule will be applicable.
      • If Drop-off is day other than Monday then no rule will be applicable.
      • If the pickup time of Friday is selected before 9AM then no rule will be applicable.
      • If the drop-off time of Monday is selected after 5PM then no rule will be applicable. 

      7: One card of Rule Effective Date, Rule Effective Time and Pickup/Dropoff Day(s): 
      • Here rules will be applied as part of combination (Rule Effective Date,Rule Effective Time and Pickup/Dropoff Day(s) ).
      • For Example if Rule start date is 16th May and Rule end date is 30th May, Rule start time is 9AM and Rule end time is  5PM ,  Rule pickup day is set as Friday and Drop-off day is set as Monday.
      • Now if any Pickup date is selected as Friday within 16th to 30th May along with Pickup Time greater than equal to 9AM till 11:45 PM and Drop-off date is selected as Monday within 16th to 30th May along with Drop-off Time 12:00 AM till 5PM. In this case rule will be applied .
      • Here if Pickup Day is selected as a day apart from Friday within 16th to 30th then no rule will be applied. If Drop-off Day is selected as a day apart from Monday within 16th to 30th then no rule will be applied. 
      8: Two rules or two cards of Rule Effective Date and Rule Effective Time: 
      • If Price effect is “Decrease” then priority will be given to the card/rule giving more discount. Here benefits will be given to customers.
      • For example: If one card has rule from 17th May 9AM to 20th May 11AM and other card have rule from 17th May 11AM to 20th May 5PM. 
      • Now if a user tries to create a booking from 17th May 9AM to any date/time till 20th May 11:00 AM  then 1st card rule will be applied .
      • If the user selects any pickup equal 17th May 9AM to 10:45AM and Drop-off is 20th May above 11:00 AM then no rule will be applied.
      • If the user selects any pickup equal or above 17th May 11AM till 20th May 5PM then 2nd card rule will be applied.
      • If Price effect is “Increase” then priority will be given to the card/rule giving less discount. Here benefit will be given to the rental operator.
      • If one price rule is “Decrease” and the other one is “ Increase” effect then priority will be given to decreasing one.

      9:  Two rules or two cards of Rule Effective Time and Pickup/Dropoff Day(s): 
      • If One rate card has pickup day as Friday and drop-off day as Monday, start time as 9AM and end time as 11AM.
      • Other rate card have pickup day as Friday and drop-off day as Monday, start time as 11AM and end time as 5PM.
      • Now while creating a booking if pickup is selected as Friday 9AM to 10:45AM and Drop-off as Monday till 11AM then in this case 1st card rule will be applied.
      • While creating a booking if pickup is selected as Friday 9AM to 10:45AM and Drop-off as Monday above 11:00 AM then in this case no rule will be applied.
      • While creating a booking if pickup is selected as Friday 11:00 AM to 11:45PM and Drop-off as Monday till 5PM then in this case 2nd rule will be applied.
